Prayers for the Provincial Chapter

The Commission on Liturgy of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno prepared the following prayers for the ongoing fifth provincial chapter

Lauds

1. Lord, you bestowed on us the gift of our Augustinian Recollect Vocation, grant that the Provincial Chapter may be an effective instrument to revitalize the Order and the Province through intensification of our common life.

2. Lord, you give life and light to the Church through the Holy Spirit, grant that the vocals of the Provincial Chapter may be inflamed by the love of the same Spirit and seek to do everything according to your will.

3. Lord, your Word is the light that guides us on the way to perfection through our religious life, may the deliberations at the 5th Provincial Chapter be characterized by dialogue, the spirit of communion, community discernment and personal detachment.

4. Lord Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd who tend the sheep of your flock, grant that our Provincial Chapter may give us good leaders who are inspired by your example and who will shepherd us to a life of holiness as consecrated Augustinian Recollects.

Half-Way House at Freetown

Brothers put up signage for new Mission Site

Fr. Bob. Fr. Rene and Bro Jams, in photo, together with Fr. Joe and Fr. Patik set up the billboard that Fr. Manny and Fr. Russel made.

January 26, 2012 will be a memorable date for both the communities Kamabai and Kamalo of Sierra Leone and the Order as well. After sharing a delicious lunch and talking about our presence and promising future in Sierra Leone, that afternoon in Kamabai, we placed at the back of our 4x4 pick-up truck the billboard announcing the proposed site of a new religious house and a church of the Augustinian Recollects to be erected on the newly procured land in Freetown.

Fr. Manuel Lipardo and Fr. Russell Lapidez prepared the billboard for that special day. The community of Kamalo composed of Frs. Joe, Bob, Rene, Patik and Bro. Jams who were held responsible for the setting up of the billboard, started their way jubilantly en route to Freetown with shovels, water, cement and sand; and with so much expectations and excitement for the start of the construction.

We arrived in Freetown very late in the afternoon. Darkness was looming and one of the poles of the board was broken during the trip but that was not an obstacle in finishing our job. With God’s grace and our persistence and ingenuity nothing was impossible.
